Criteria
The
Fund Will
Provide scholarship in a number
established annually by the executive committee from the interest derived by the fund.
Provide a vehicle by which the
association may place funds, as they see fit, to assist the youth of the association in
continuing their education.
Provide for any company, group or
persons to make a contribution, memorial or otherwise, to sustain the scholarship fund.
Moneys
All principles moneys or other assets
once placed in the fund by the Ohio Association of Meat Processors cannot be removed
unless by a written three-fourths vote of all OAMP board members present on the date the
vote is taken with a minimum of 15% of total membership represented on that date. A
sixty (60) day notice explanation for vote will be made to the afro mentioned members.
The fund will be placed in a banking facility
approved by the State of Ohio to administer in cooperation with the executive secretary.

Number To Be Awarded
Based on current educational
costs and the amount of money available in the scholarship fund to be awarded, the
Executive Committee may increase the amount of the scholarship(s). The Executive
Committee will decide, no later than the Fall Meeting of the preceding year, how many
scholarships will be awarded at the annual convention in March. A recipient can be
awarded the scholarship for a maximum of four (4) years by reapplying.
Eligibility
1.
Scholarships are open to Supplier and Plant:
- Members and their
immediate families
- Employees and their immediate
families
2. The applicant (s) must have completed at least three and one-half (3 1/2) years
of
high school or its equivalence.
3. A recipient can be awarded the scholarship for maximum of four (4)
years by reapplying.
4. The recipient(s) of the scholarship or their representative will attend the
OAMP Convention Awards Banquet in March to accept the awarded
scholarship.
Criteria
All
applicants are to submit to the Ohio Association of Meat Processors five (5)
copies of the below stated documentation no later than February 14 of the awarding year.
(Fax copies are unacceptable). Failure to meet the deadline date and/or submit the
stated documentation will result in application being eliminated from the current years
selection process and returned to the applicant.
* Proof of scholastic standing in high school and/or college
(transcript with raised seal)
* Explanation of leadership qualities in school, church,
community and youth groups.
* Personal letter of intent stating a sincere interest in
higher education.
* A minimum of three (3) letters of recommendation.
* Proof of acceptance to an accredited institution of higher
education within the
state of Ohio
* List of all scholarship awards/amounts.
(Money received from sources other than the OAMP for use during the current
school year).
* Proof of membership in the Ohio Association of Meat
Processors (copy of
Membership Certificate).
Re-Awarding
All
applicant must reactivate his or her file by sending the Scholarship Committee
updated information. The same criteria and committee requirement are applicable.
Selection Procedure
At the Fall meeting each
year, written notice will be given to all present of the availability of the
scholarship moneys.
Prior to January 1 of the
awarding year, the OAMP Executive Committee will select a committee of volunteers who are
knowledgeable in this matter. The committee will consist of at least three (3)
persons but no more than five (5) of which two (2) are alternates, who can be considered
impartial to those who may be applying. The OAMP Executive Officers' selection of
this committee will be final and without appeal. This committee may remain the same
or be changed at the Executive Officers' discretion from year to year. This
committee shall be referred to as the Scholarship Committee.
The Scholarship Committee
will use whatever manner they so choose to make their selection(s) no later than March 1
of the awarding year.
The Scholarship Committee is
under no obligation to award any scholarships if they feel none of the applicants
qualify. Further, they do not need to award all scholarships so designated by the
OAMP Executive Officers' if they do not determine all applicants qualify.
The decision of the
Scholarship Committee is final and not open to appeal.
Notification of the
committee's selection will be sent to each applicant from the OAMP Office no later than
March 5.
